When I was a Congressional aide we had an expression: “No idea is too stupid to say out loud.” So here it is, and bear me out: instead of buying these ships, don't buy these ships. Buy other ships. Buy better ships.
Thing = suggestion (to buy a more expensive but safer ship than the bargain priced single-hulled VLCC that Kensington wants to close the deal on)
