Backpack sighting in Teaser
It's 5 pm and Josh is getting ready to go home. He pulls his backpack off his visitor's chair, grabs a file off the desk under his blackboard and shoves it into his backpack, and is set to go. But Donna tells him he has to go talk to the presidential classroom kids, so after some whining he hands her the backpack and heads out to the northwest lobby. Donna comes with him and has the backpack on her right shoulder.

Non-Backpack sighting in Act 2
The next day, Josh is still using the messenger bag. This time it's just kind of hanging off his right shoulder when he walks into the West Wing. It must be jet lag. Yeah, he was so tired from the trip that he didn't have time to switch back to the backpack!
Messenger Bag sighting in Act 1
Josh rushes into the West Wing with the messenger bag on his right shoulder, with dangly things hanging off of it (the bag, not his shoulder <g>).
