We're Democrats over here. We're not going to nominate a born-again elk hunter with a tattoo of the Confederate flag on his ass.
When a relatively young, very conservative Supreme Court Justice unexpectedly dies, the Bartlet
administration has to satisfy concerned politicians and citizens from the entire political spectrum
when choosing someone to fill the vacancy. Josh and Toby take a meeting with Justice Evelyn Baker Lang,
a progressive Circuit Court Judge whose consideration should satisfy the left-wing of the Democratic Party --
problem is, she's fabulous and Josh tries to figure out a way to get her on the bench. With the help of
Donna's story about her parents' cats, he suggests that Bartlet approach the elderly Chief Justice about
stepping down so Lang can take his place, which would require the President to allow the Senate
Republicans to choose a young, conservative justice to fill the other seat. When Josh tries to sell this
scheme to an influential Democratic Senator, he ends up drunk -- and sends CJ in to trade shots with the Senator.

Dialogue Excerpts:
Donna: Sign, please.
Josh: Do you want to move it so I can see it?
Donna: Not really.
Josh: Why are we apologizing to Ashland?
Donna: We sent him flowers. Condolence flowers.
Josh: Condolences...?
Donna: For his death.
Josh: He's alive.
Donna: That's what he said.
Lisa: When do I see names for Brady's seat?
Josh: You wanna let the body cool?
Lisa: You're meeting with Barwald, Giorelli, Evelyn Baker Lang? Whose acid trip is that?
Josh: Take a breath.
Lisa: The Committee's not going to let the balance of the Court hurl wildly to the left.
Debbie: I hate to do this, but it's Rina, sir. The girl in the dress with the flowers--
Bartlet: Just now?
Debbie: Yes.
Bartlet: What'd I call her?
Debbie: Lana.
Bartlet: Who's Lana?
Debbie: I'm guessing an exotic dancer from your spotty youth.
Bartlet: I should apologize. Get her back.
Debbie: You asked me yesterday how the schedule gets off the rails. This is how.
Toby: We need her. She's the cautionary tale. Without her, we may not get Shelton.
CJ: Have you been outside today? We don't hand someone to the madding crowd so they can take the heat off some guy from Indiana.
Josh: That woman is -- you should hear her.
CJ: What? So she is a serious candidate?
Josh: She should be.
CJ: She's going to be on posters under a headline that says Wanted for the murder of 15 million American children.
Toby: Where's the Senator?
Josh: He's with CJ. He got me a little drunk.
Toby: Is he leaving?
Josh: I think he's getting CJ a little drunk.
